Teresa Dorsey Obituary

(Tess- Terry)

At 96 years young, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Preceded in death by her parents Michael Dorsey and Elizabeth (Mullen) Dorsey, brother Richard Dorsey and five sisters. Germaine (Bernie) Skalski, Rose Ann (Edward) Konieczny, Betty Jane Dorsey, Margaret (Jimmy) Burns and Mary (John) Fisher.

Beloved Aunt Teresa will be deeply missed by her many surviving nieces and nephews. Rosemary (Sam) Fisher-Roach, Debbie (Ron) Shiwarski, Margaret Ann (Bill) Begley, Germaine Skalski, Ron (Lisa) Skalski, Tina Skalski, Kathy (Len) Bloom, Mark (Marilyn) Konezny, Matt (Patty) Konieczny, Denise Konieczny and many great nieces & nephews, as well as her special neighbors, Kate and Barry.

Teresa was truly a remarkable woman whose life was defined by faith, family, and a saint-like devotion to others. A dearly beloved, daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, she touched generations with her warmth, generosity, and joyous spirit.

A lifelong resident of Mount Washington, Tess was well known and deeply loved on the “Mount.” She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of the Mount Parish and a proud graduate of SMOM School, remaining active in parish life and a faithful supporter of the school’s Alumni Association.

At a time when few women were encouraged to pursue long-term professional careers, Teresa built an impressive nearly 40 year career-an accomplishment that spoke to her intelligence and determination. Serving as the “Executive Assistant” for the President of Calgon(Merck), she earned deep respect for her professionalism, discretion, and unwavering loyalty, while also forming lifelong “work friends” along the way.

Teresa’s strong Irish Catholic faith was her north star.  She never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to help someone in need—whether caring for family, sitting at a sick friend’s bedside, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, or offering quiet encouragement. Her faith was not just practiced; it was lived. She gave without seeking any recognition, serving others with grace, humility, and joy

A hallmark of Teresa’s love often arrived in the form of her many handwritten letters and thoughtful notes. You could never thank Teresa without receiving a thank-you in return—often sprinkled with encouragement, prayer, and sometimes a little “fun money.” She had a gift for making people feel seen and deeply loved.

An “unclaimed treasure”, Teresa never married yet her life was full beyond measure. Selfless and joyful, she always put family first, sharing an especially close and cherished bond with her nieces and nephews. The true backbone of the Dorsey clan, she was a constant presence and a steady source of love and encouragement.

Teresa also knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. Whether lunching with the Red Hat ladies, bowling a few frames, or savoring a well-earned gin and tonic on the holidays in her festive sweaters, she was always ready for fun. Her laughter was infectious, her positivity contagious, and her zest for life brightened every moment she shared.

Teresa’s legacy is one of abundance. She lived and loved with open hands, teaching us to love generously, serve joyfully, and walk faithfully with God—with a little extra help from St. Anthony and the Luck of the Irish.

While our hearts will forever miss Teresa, we are comforted in knowing she was welcomed home with open arms at the gates of Heaven, with a fast pass in hand, and greeted with the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
